This week we added "the" to our sight word list. Using our 2 previously learned words, students practiced reading and writing this sentence all week: I like the ___. We also had that sentence structure for our decodable book. I listened to all students read on Friday and wrote notes on the books for parents. I'm looking for students to point to each word while reading, turn the pages independently, and know what the picture clue is to finish the sentence.
For math, we continue to use comparison towers and use math vocabulary such as " greater" and "less." Most students can now say AND prove "5 is greater than 4" and "4 is less than 5." We also began partners of 5 activities. Students will have many opportunities to discover and show all the ways to make 5. I'll make sure to post some pictures of math time for the next blog.
